The Not Potty-Trained Blues and More Happy Subjects

Dear Zeon,
You absolutely refuse to go potty in the toilet. You are huge, a four year old wearing size 7 clothes, and you refuse to go into the bathroom and do your business there like you should. I have tried bribing you, leaving you buck naked, underwear, "Potty Time" with Elmo videos, Books, and...nothing.
But,
you are the cutest "baby" in the world. You are in your "me" stage and do not share a thing, or grab anything in my hand and tell me, "mine!" You are my sunshine and give me a reason to smile everyday.
Like any toddler, you refuse to sleep in your own room. I fall asleep with you in between your father and myself. I pray every night over you, for your health, for your safety and your future. I give thanks to God for you and the joy you bring to our family.
And,
your in "trouble." I miss your little infant face, and find myself longing for another lil one to join our family. If all is good with my health, you'll be getting a little brother or sister soon. It is the best gift I can give you beside love, an instant best friend.
Love,
Mommy

Haircut

Dear Zeon,
I cut your hair myself the other day. I had to. Your hair was so long and your face so cute that people automatically assumed you were a girl despite being dressed like a boy. I just snapped one day after a well-meaning lady said, "Your girl is very pretty." So I cut it while you cried for the thousandth time this weekend.
You hate to take any type of medicine. Your asthma was acting up, so I was forced to give you medicine to open up your lungs. Everyone is sick in the house. You kick and scream every time your given the medicine. You are so strong that two people have to be there for you to take it. It is not easy. I have tried numerous times to fool you by putting the medicine in juice and yogurt, but you always catch it.
I am sick myself. I am trying desperately not to get very sick; to the point of taking antibiotics. Hopefully, I can conquer it.
I love you son. Please learn how to potty train quickly. I feel like drop kicking your daycare. they do not want to transfer you to the three year old class until you are. I love you.
Until later my sweet prince,
Mommy.

three years old

Dear Zeon,
soon you will turn three
even now as i write this you seek me out
pleading with you eyes to play with you
so i go
to your dinosaurs
toy story toys
and cars
guiding me with your arms firming around my neck
piggy backing on me
in this chair as I write
Happy Birthday baby
you are the world to me
time to play...

Insomnia

Dear Zeon,
You are currently in your bed, my bed, fast asleep. You just finished watching Rapunzel while your mommy lies awake next to you...insomnia. I have a lot on my mind right now little one. Trying to decide if I should give you a little brother or sister and what mommy is going to do professionally for the rest of her life.
As for you, you are absolutely gorgeous. A real looker. God bless you, baby. You are very smart and talented. I pray for you every night. I wish and hope for a charmed life for you. Our beautiful small house is growing with us. We will have bought your childhood home a year a ago next month. Your daddy and I worked diligently to get you this home. I hope you love it as much as we love you. Goodnight sweet prince. Mommy loves you. Hopefully, I can fall asleep now.

Summer Days

Dear Zeon,
You are a bundle of energy now. you walk and run and push me to play with you when I am washing dishes. You are the light of my life. I planned a cruise for us to celebrate your birthday. We leave June 13, 2011 God willing on the Carnival Imagination. Ports of cal are Key West and Cozumel, Mexico. We are going to have the best time. I thank God for your health and happiness. May you always have a smile on you face and may you potty train quickly.
Today you went into our pool with daddy and your brother Omar. It was just the boys. I was taking a well deserved nap in bed until noon. Your father tells me you try to swim. I have a feeling you'll be swimming like a fish soon. You always smile when you look my way and make pretend you do not hear people when you don't want to do something. you are definitely a character, always playing wrestling with your daycare friends to the dismay of your teachers. As your mom, I want you to grow up happy and become the awesome adult I know you will be, just don't do it too fast.
Te quiero,
Mami

Magic Time

Dear Zeon,
It's a windy night,
40's weather
Christmas time.
You are in your crib
tall for your age
still sucking on a pacifier.
You are getting so big!
Where is my peanut
that could not move a muscle without my help?
My little bundle of joy,
don't grow up too fast...
the taller you get,
the closer I get to my Golden years.
I enjoy these peachy ones,
watching you play in our concrete patio,
finding every puddle to mud up your clothes.
May you have a magical childhood,
God grant us peace in which to lay the foundation of your heart.
Mommy loves you dear boy,
now and always
on this windy night
during Christmas time.
Sweet Dreams Zeon.

New House

Dear Zeon,
We bought you a home
to run and play in
to get your first puppy
and later
bury him nine years later...
here you will learn about life and death
you will have your first crush
and your first broken heart
you will feel and learn what you feel
and why
and when to move on.
We worked hard to get you here
and I feel proud and anxious
knowing what awaits you in the years ahead
but know this,
we will always be beside you
in life and beyond
ready to steady you
when life gives you an unexpected push
off the path you choose to follow.
welcome home son.
Love Mommy
